Doctor's Visit

Alex visited his doctor today for his 9 month checkup. He is in perfect health. He is a little small for his age, but when adjusted for being ~2 months early, he is average height and weight. He is around 17 lbs. Unfortunately, it looks like he is developing a big head like Dad. As you can see in the picture below, he is still very close to rolling back to tummy. His shoulder is still getting in the way.

Vikings Fan?

We discovered that Alex's Vikings hat finally fits. Dad was excited and Alex was happy to indulge Dad. He isn't quite sure yet what the point of a hat is.

Alex tried avocado today and really liked it. He practiced his rolling at school today (still can't quite do it) and he had fun playing with Dad in the evening. In fact, he had so much fun that once again he wasn't interested in going to bed at bedtime.

Fun Weekend

Alex had a great weekend and he was sad to go to bed on Sunday. Over the weekend, it was sunny and warm in Seattle so he went outside many times for walks. Other activities:

-- Grandpa and Grandma Felton came over to visit for a couple hours on Saturday

-- Mom and Dad realized that he has figured out all his toys and needed some new ones. He got an exersaucer, a pyramid with shapes to build, and an alphabet song rolling wheel. All the toys were a lot of fun.

-- He got to play a lot with Mom and Dad and he is really getting good a giggling.

Sitting Up, Table Food

Alex had a really good week. He reclaimed his expert sleeper reputation with a record 13 hours of sleep on Thursday. He is sitting up on his own with just minor support. At daycare, they started to sit him at the table with the big boys. They put a few peas or cheerios in front of him and he practices his "pincer" grip, trying to get them in his mouth. He ate yogurt for the first time and really liked it. However, mom didn't like the smell when he spit it up, so we won't have too much for now. He went for lots of walks this week at school and at home since the weather has been clear.

Three New Movies

Alex had a great first Valentine's Day. His school had a party. He received many Valentines from his classmates, from his Grandma Brady, and from his Aunt Ann and Uncle John in London.

THANKS!

Uncle John, Chicken

Alex enjoyed hanging out with Uncle John last night while Mom and Dad went to an event with friends. He had so much fun he slept for over 12 hours.

Alex also tried chicken for the first time yesterday. It was pureed with apples and Alex really enjoyed eating it. Unfortunately, his stomach wasn't used to all the protein and he threw it all up in dramatic fashion 40 minutes later. We will give him a day or two to build up digestive enzymes and then try again.

Old Pals

Alex got to see his old pals from Peps this week. Everyone is so big now including some that crawl.

Alex also had a fun week at daycare where he did some crafts and is socializing more with the babies. He is just starting to sit up which gives him a whole new perspective. He can't sit up on his own, but if someone sits him up and sticks a pillow behind him, he'll usually stay that way. We did have our first "accident report" at daycare on Thursday where he fell forward and bumped his head on a toy.

Here's a video of Alex talking and trying to roll over. He likes to play under the coffee table.

Alex is excited because Uncle John is coming to visit today.

Another Fun Day

Alex had a really good day at daycare. Mom stopped in for a visit at lunchtime and he was the only baby not crying. He had just finished a "surprise valentine's day craft project". We look forward to seeing what it is. At daycare they're going to give him more tummy time propped up on the boppy pillow. That will give him more exercise of his neck and arm muscles to help him start to roll over and eventually crawl.

All smiles

Alex had a lot of things to say this weekend. He is babbling constantly and is very smily and happy all the time. The only time he got mad this weekend was when we tried to feed him banana and canteloupe. For some reason, he prefers vegetables.

February 1

Alex had a good week at school and home. He is sitting up on his own more and more. He needs supervision when he sits because he has a tendency to lean back quickly. He rolls over tummy to back at will most of the time. He is still very close to rolling over back to tummy but he has not done it yet.

His sleeping has been very good the last week. It has been cold in Seattle so he has a special heater in his room to keep him warm and snug. His cold is completely gone. He is probably close to the weight he was at before the RSV virus because he has been eating so much.
