Happy Guy

Alex had a really good week. His favorite teacher Amanda got him a bday present even though she isn't allowed to do that. He can almost crawl and can almost pull himself up on the coffee table. He really enjoys playing with blocks and legos and cars. He likes to put them in the basket and then dump the basket on the floor. Alex is wearing his Piston's outfit in support of his friend Harrison's favorite basketball team, but it didn't do much good since they lost.

3 teeth total

Alex got his first tooth on the top yesterday. He woke up crying in the middle of the night and we didn't know why. Because it was his birthday we let him sleep in our bed. He must have been in pain as the tooth was breaking through.

Here are some more good videos from his birthday party

Fun Birthday Weekend!

We had a fun weekend in celebration of Alex and Dad. We went swimming, we made waffles, we saw Kaye and Aaron perform ukelele at Folklife, we went for a hike, and we had a birthday party for Alex. Grandma & Grandpa F, John & Ann, and the Gill Family came over for a bbq and cake. Alex was appreciative of some great toys: Spanish blocks, a rocket from Grandma B, some books, a really special personalized book from Aunt Bonnie, some legos, and some clothes. He especially liked eating cake with his hands and he discovered that he really likes balloons.

Fun for Dad's Birthday

Today was Dad's birthday so Alex and Mom took Dad to dinner at the Costco Foodcourt, our favorite restaurant. Alex loves smiling at everyone at Costco. At home this evening he was his usual hyper and chatty self. He discovered he likes ripping up the magazines into little shreds and then putting them in his mouth.

First Tooth!

Alex had a very exciting weekend! Yesterday, he got his first tooth. It was the bottom left one. Mom and Dad had been expecting the top teeth since we can see them below the gums. Alex is very proud of his tooth and spends a lot of time touching it with his tongue.

He also went to Los Angeles for the weekend. He went to the beach for the first time. He likes the sand but isn't sure about the ocean yet. Since it was so sunny, Alex and Dad bought matching goofy hats.

He also spent his first time away from Mommy when she went to LA early Wednesday evening. Mom was sad but Alex had fun with Dad.
Today's report from school said that Alex was able to pull up to a standing position while holding on to something for the first time. He definitely prefers standing to sitting.

Special Day for Mom

Alex has had a rough weekend - he's had a stomach bug the whole time. Consequently, he has had many changes of clothes and many long naps. In between, he gave a few smiles. We cancelled our big mother's day plans but still went to the botanic gardens for an hour. Alex likes the waterfall the best. It was a special day for mom.

Hard Work

Alex has been hard at work this week making a Mother's day present for Mommy. Every day he also practices crawling which he hates and walking which he loves. He is getting good at taking walking steps, especially with his right foot.
Today, he was glad to speak to his Grandpa in Minnesota on the phone. He could not quite figure the phone out, especially because he was so curious what it tasted like and how it would feel in his mouth.

Peps Reunion

We got together with our Peps friends on Sunday. The babies are getting so big. One is walking and the rest are on their way. Alex especially enjoyed the swing and the sunshine.

Play Ball

Alex is starting to like rolling the ball around. When he pays attention he can catch it and roll it back. But sometimes he gets distracted by his feet or the TV remote or other toys.
