Finally Getting Better and Graduation

Alex was sick with a fever off-and-on Sunday through Thursday. He stayed home from school with Daddy on Monday, Tuesday, half of Wednesday, and Thursday. He had to go home on Wednesday with a fever of 102 F. He went back to school on Friday and lasted the whole day, but his cough is still persisting. On Friday evening, Alex's appetite finally came back. He had some ice cream and blueberry muffins to get his appetite going again.

Alex has not been sick like this in months. Unfortunately, there was a lot going on at his school this week.

Alex has just graduated from "Toddler" class to "Transition" (to preschool) class this week. On Wednesday and Friday, it was a very scary for him at first going to the big new classroom with all the new, bigger kids. Alex is just about the youngest and smallest kid in the class of 10 children. But, Alex is adjusting well so far. He led the rope line to the playground on Wednesday including going down a flight of stairs. The morning dropoff on Friday was very hard. Alex will really miss the teachers and friends from his toddler class. The adjustment to the new class would have been more gradual if he had been able to go to school earlier in the week. He might still visit his old class a little bit next week.

Sounders and then Sick

Alex went to the inaugural Seattle Sounders FC game on Thursday with Mommy, Daddy, Aaron, and Elliot. He had a great time. The Sounders won 3-0. On Friday, he said "soccer" about 100 times.

Here is a picture from Alex's friend Aaron's iphone.

Alex had a pretty good weekend until Sunday mid-day when he came down with a pretty high fever. He laid on the couch with Mommy most of Sunday afternoon and evening trying to get better.

"One, Two, Three"

Alex counted to three for the first time out loud (we think) today. We were eating lunch. Alex had a french fry and he dipped it in 3 different cups of ketchup while he said "one, two, three". We were proud.

It rained and snowed most of the weekend. Alex is eager for Spring so he can play outside. He said "outside?" about 10 times Saturday and 5 times on Sunday. Here is Alex in the snow on Saturday, March 7:

Here is Alex watching Grandpa and Grandma Stewart/Michela's vacation pictures from Mexico (he seems to call Grandpa "Poppa" -- March 10 the audio was fixed on this file):

Triumphant Return to the ISCU

Alex visited cousin Emily at the ISCU (the Infant Special Care Nursery) this morning. She is doing great! It was the same ISCU at Swedish Hospital that Alex spent a couple weeks at when he was born. Alex wishes good health for Emily and all the babies at the ISCU and hopes that they can go home very soon.

He could not stay long at the ISCU because only direct siblings are allowed to visit (he did not know). The hospital is very careful about germs in the ISCU. So, Alex practiced running while he waited outside. Here are some videos:

Later that morning, Alex practiced throwing rocks into Lake Washington for over an hour.
