Holiday

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend.  Everyone caught up on sleep and we had some great food.  We forgot our camera a few times when we were out and about so we have just a few pictures here.

Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving:

Alex did some work on our laptop – here is a picture (we have ordered a new keyboard).DSC_1859

With Dad’s help, Julia decided to dress in her Vikings outfit today.

Snow!

We had a snow day yesterday (Tuesday) because Seattle had almost 3 inches of snow. Alex and Julia had a great time and were very very active all day. Back at school today, they each took very long naps to recover – Mom and Dad wish they could have taken long naps too.

This was the first time in almost a year that Julia had seen snow and she was very, very interested. Once she felt it, she was very concerned and wanted to get out of it. Alex enjoyed the snow until he got cold.

Alex walked up to a chalkboard this week and wrote his name. We are not sure who taught him, but we are very glad he can do it. Julia has added the words Wow! and Uh Oh! to her vocabulary – and she knows that those words need to be shouted too.

Julia’s First Words

We are a little delayed in declaring Julia’s first words. For the last 4-6 weeks, Julia has been consistently and appropriately using the followings words:

  • doggy
  • more
  • mine
  • Alex
  • car

She also seems to say thank you when we remind her to say thank you. She is picking up new words each day. It is tough to know which words truly came first because you have to hear her say it a few times to know that she is getting the usage right. But, Mommy and Daddy both think her first word was “more” and then “doggy” and “mine”.

Alex and Julia had a great week:

  • Alex practices soccer most days at home and with his team on Saturday
  • Their friend Kaye babysat them on Saturday and everyone had a good time (except for Julia who cried for at least the first hour)
  • They rode the merry-go-round at the Crossroads Mall which was lots of fun
  • Julia has done some great walking at school and at home

Halloween 2010

  • Alex and Julia went trick-or-treating with their neighbor and good friend from across the street, Nathan.
    • It was very very very fun.
    • Everyone got lots of candy.
    • Alex and Nathan were pros at ringing the doorbell and saying ‘trick or treat’.
    • Alex was a monkey.  Julia was a pink octopus.
    • They were very brave when things got scary.
    • Julia was very good at picking out her own candy and smiling at everyone.
    • Julia likes chocolate very much.
  • We also did Halloween parties at Starbucks and the kids' museum

  • Julia is now good at saying a few words repeatedly and in the right context.  Mom and Dad are not calling any of these first words yet just because we are hoping for some better 'first’ words soon.  More to come hopefully soon.
