Tubing!

Alex and Julia went to the mountains yesterday to play in the snow and go tubing. Julia liked it the best - she went down 4 times. Alex went once on the fastest tube and that was enough. Alex has been a really good boy at bedtime recently. He negotiated leaving the light off as long as we don't keep his door locked. So far it seems like a good deal and he hasn't been getting up.

More Words

Julia's vocabulary has been growing quickly. She greets Daddy with "Dada" and Mommy with "Mama" in the morning. This weekend, she correctly said "book", "cat", "dog", "up", "down", "Alex", "more", and signed "please" a few times.

Here is a picture of a pretty curl in Julia's hair. We took this picture in case this is the last of the curls for a while (forever?). Julia usually gets excited about whatever Alex does. Below is a cute video of Julia thinking about using the potty like Alex. She has been carrying it around the house and sitting on it all weekend.

Alex was really excited this weekend for the sequel to the book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. We read Pickles to Pittsburgh three times and talked about it for hours. It was very interesting to think about the big food, especially the chocolate ice cream!

Also this weekend, Alex and Julia met two tigers who are brothers at the Cougar Mountain Zoo and the zookeeper gave them a special show. Alex's friend Nathan came over to play and make Elmo faces (see Elmo in the picture). Unfortunately, Nathan is moving a few blocks away this week. We hope he still comes over to play frequently!

New Year in Minnesota

We went to Minnesota to celebrate New Year’s Day. We enjoyed visiting the Minnesota Grandparents, Emily, Diane, Aaron, Colleen, Maggie, Claire, Warren, and Grace the kitty.

Alex and Julia both liked the cold weather and wanted to play outside more than Daddy could endure (he should have brought a good coat). We celebrated a countdown to noon on New Years Eve with a fun ball drop.

We also had a very fun trip to Nickelodeon Universe, the theme park at the Mall of America.

Alex says his favorite part of the trip was seeing his grandparents and playing with his computer.

Julia’s favorite part was playing with Grace the kitty.
