Alex catches a fish!

Alex has been fishing many times but he has never caught his own fish.  We decided to seek professional advice and got a guide on Echo Lake last night.  What a difference!  We were trolling and Alex caught 2 beautiful rainbow trout.  Julia caught a little blue fish.  And she hooked what we thought was a rainbow trout and actually was a catfish. What a hilarious surprise!

Everyone had a great time and we'll definitely be back.

First Backpacking Trip

We went on our first family backpacking trip last weekend.  We hiked up a steep trail to Annette Lake.  It was about 8 miles roundtrip to our campsite.  One trail map said 1,500 ft elevation gain and another said 1,900 - either way it was steep!  There was a modicum of whining on the way up but it was worth it at the top - glacier lake, swimming, campfire.  Everyone wants to do it again.

World Cup Victory and Fourth of July!!!!

We had an incredibly exciting long weekend for the 4th. Friday night Sounders victory. Saturday morning neighborhood parade. Saturday evening clam bake on Whidbey with the Gills. Sunday Women's World Cup victory in Vancouver. We will remember that game our whole lives!!!
