Soccer and the rest of Fall

Both kids played Newport rec soccer again this year. Julia was on the Mighty Knights and Mom was the coach. Her team started 0-1-2 and finished with a 7-0 streak. Julia showed amazing tenacity and hustle. She was probably the 2nd highest goal scorer and the MVP on defense. And she decided goalie is not for her. Alex played on the Ender Dragons although there were only 4 kids back from last year. It was definitely a rebuilding year as they only won 1 game. Alex scored 2 goals and was by far the best goalie on the team and maybe in the league. Way to go, Alex and Julia.

Alex is doing debate club this fall and his team won the whole tournament.  He recently argued it's better to be a follower than a leader since you're less likely to get assassinated.

Other fall stuff - We had a nice visit with Grandma B is September.  Kids were Darth Vader and Medusa for Halloween.  We had a very early snow.  And we had a wonderful family reunion last weekend.  Everyone is looking forward to the holidays!

Julia's 8th Birthday!

For Julia's 8th birthday she had a sleepover with her soccer team. They decorated cupcakes and giggled. For Mom's birthday, each kid made her a nice cake.

August 2017

The rest of August was fairly quiet. Mom won the WA State Open doubles with Andrea and her team lost in the finals of the Portland Sectionals and her soccer team won the summer season. We went to Mohai and made a molten chocolate lava cake. At the end of August Mom started a new job at Amazon and the next week was back to school.

Idaho Eclipse Trip

In August we traveled to Idaho for the 2017 eclipse.  First stop was Pullman and a Snake River jet boat tour  with G&G Felton.  We got to meet Luke Falk!

Then we met Steve and Jane and Jane's brother to see the total eclipse near McCall, ID.  What a majestic experience!

Girls Just Want to Have Fun!

Julia went to Girls Just Want to Have Fun camp this week.  It was put on by 3 high schoolers in one of their homes and featured crafts and games.  It was A LOT of fun, obviously.
