Alaska with the Feltons
We just returned from an epic small ship cruise in Southeast Alaska with the Feltons. The ship was the Golden Eagle who had a crew of Captain Joshua, Chef Chris, Albert, and Lauren. We saw so many animals: orcas, humpbacks, eagles, porpoises, seals, sea otters, sea lions, sea cucumbers, salmon, halibut, rock fish. Basically, everything but a bear. The kids enjoyed hanging out with their cousins and playing games like Taboo, hearts, poker (Julia cleaned up!), blackjack, hide & seek, scrabble, and monopoly. Chef Chris served incredible food (gluten free for Connor). We went kayaking, hiking, saw glaciers in Tracy Arm, visited the Five Finger Lighthouse, soaked in Baranof Warm Springs, and did a lot of fishing. It was an amazing experience!
Other Summer Fun
We also enjoyed the Somerset 4th of July parade, backpacking with Rachel and Trish on Cascade Creek out of Blewett Pass, John did 3 gran fondos, Grandma and Grandpa F both won their age divisions at STC Tennis Week, Alex learned to drive, and an awesome Train/Blues Traveler/Jewel concert at Climate Pledge Arena.
Somerset Tennis
Joanna coached the Somerset rec tennis team and group lessons this summer (including pickleball). It was a ton of fun and both Alex and Julia got experience helping coach. Both kids showed remarkable improvement and are good tennis players. Mom is still hoping one or both might consider high school tennis.

Father Daughter Tennis in San Diego
We had another fun weekend in early June at the Father Daughter national tennis tournament in San Diego. We played 3 close, well-played matches in the 70s but didn't come away with any victories. It was fun traveling with the families of Susie, Kris, Kathryn, and Blakeley. The beach was beautiful and we ate well. Wonderful memories!
