Start of EPS Girls Basketball

Julia is trying basketball for the first time and it's going great so far. She's a tough defender and she's smart and physical. They were 1-1 at the kickoff jamboree with Julia playing through a bad cut on her eye from another girl's fingernail. The girls seem to be having a lot of fun.

Intersectionals in Phoenix

Joanna traveled to Phoenix for the intersectional team championships. We lost to Texas in the first round and then won the backdraw, finishing 5th with a record of 3-1. Joanna was 6-1 with a nice comeback win in doubles vs Texas and some solid singles. 7 matches in 3 days was a lot but the training paid off. The group was also very fun and the house was amazing. Now on to La Jolla in Dec.

Other Fall Fun

The Mariners had a nice run to the division championships, the Reign made the playoffs, Grandma and Grandpa F went to Japan, John Julia and Joanna went to My Favorite Murder, Joanna did some halloween tennis, and Maeby protected all of us. Julia also went to Homecoming with her friends but no pictures were shared.

EPS Girls Soccer

EPS Girls Soccer had another solid season, finishing 4th in Emerald Sound Conference, just missing the state tournament. Julia moved from center back to the defensive midfield, an adjustment that got her involved in more offense. She had 2 goals off headers for the first time. She also received 1st team All Conference for ESC. It was a really fun group of girls too.

September Birthdays

Two miletones this year: Joanna turned 50 and Julia turned 16 and got her license. Kris, Joanna's birthday twin, came to town so we cycled Bainbridge and played tennis. We also had a party at Bellevue Brewing with the tennis crew, ~20 people. So much fun! Julia did a big dinner with her friends. Unfortunately, no pictures were shared.

Enchantments Thru Hike

Julia and Joanna did the Enchantments thru hike. It was a LONG day, leaving around 1am and getting home about 22 hours later. Total mileage was 19.4 miles and 4,700 feet of elevation gain. The weather and scenery were amazing. We saw 2 groups of goats and very few hikers. Contrary to expectations, the trail and facilities were in great shape. I might even prefer the 1-day version to the 3-day version from a few years ago. Slogging down hill at the end of the day was tough but totally worth it. John saw how great it was and came back a few weeks later with his friend Brian to do the same trip.
