Alex goes to Tufts!

Alex started his freshman year at Tufts in August. We dropped him off for a pre-orientation backpacking trip in NH. Then he started classes: spanish, economics, islam, and archaeology. He played intramural wiffleball, kickball, and is on the debate team. He is in a single room in Carmichael. We visited in October and everything seems to be going great! At the same time, Julia visited some Boston schools. Her favorites were BC and Tufts. Brandeis was ok and Wellesley got a thumbs down.

Summer Soccer

Julia is on the Surf GA team, returning about 1/2 the same players from LFC. They had a solid summer, winning the tournament at Starfire but not doing all that well at Surf Cup in San Diego. She's ready for the high school season!

Summer Tennis

Joanna had a very successful summer tennis season. At 10.0 mixed sectionals, the team underperformed but Joanna and Mike had 1 nice win and 2 near wins against incredible teams. It was great to finally play well in mixed. Eugene was also really fun. At WSO, Joanna won the singles and doubles in the 50s. The competition was pretty strong, especially in singles. Except for service nerves, she played great. The next week was 18+ sectionals in scorching hot Portland. We played 5 matches with only 5 players and finished 2-3. I finished 4-1 with just one loss 7-6 7-6 against a youngster in a really high quality match. So fun to play well! And such a fun group of gals. Grandma also continues to compete, finishing 3rd (last) in WSO 80s

Somerset Rec Club Summer '25

Alex and Mom ran the tennis program at SRC while Julia was a life guard, swim instructor, and swam on the team. She only made one meet (getting a PR in breast stroke) but she did all the practices to stay in great shape for soccer. She also made a ton of money on private lessons. What a special club!
