Long Weekend

We had a great long weekend. We saw Grandpa and Grandma Felton, went to Suncadia, played with Brock and Cayden, went hiking, and did some dancing to country music. Julia was the big dancing star watching the band on Sunday night. Julia also was a big help hiking because she carried her own water and food. Alex finished the Dinosaur Math game on the ipad in one evening.

Birthday Party!

Alex's 4th birthday is coming up this week. We celebrated this weekend at a local bouncy house. Alex and his friends had an awesome time. His friends from school, the neighborhood, and PEPS all came out to see him. Alex's Grandma Brady and Cousin Diane flew in from Minnesota to help celebrate and his relatives in Seattle also came. Also below is a video of Alex scoring another goal in soccer on a heads-up play.

The link below is a sentimental trip down memory lane from almost 4 years ago when he weighed just 4 lbs. and he opened his eyes for a little bit -- seems like just yesterday. http://alex07andjulia09.blogspot.com/2007/06/june-1-took-peek-at-world_01.html

Julia did a great job in her first time at the bouncyhouse. She could more than hold her own with the big kids and did all the slides.

Talking and Reading

Julia has been getting better at talking. We think we heard her say a perfect sentence on Saturday, "This is for Alex". Mommy and Daddy were impressed. Julia has also graduated from her high chair full time but she insists on climbing on to the table at every meal to get whatever looks interesting and she still throws food onto the floor sometimes. Julia is also into a highly exploratory phase or a highly naughty phase. Some of her recent accomplishments: writing on the wall three times in one day, unloading a toiletries cabinet every single morning, dropping the Kleenex box in the toilet and then walking it around the house, tearing up magazines, folding the memory cards, writing on herself with a marker, riding the Retro Rocket full speed down the driveway, and demanding control of the computer mouse (which she is doing right now).

Alex has been getting better at reading. He has read a few full sentences that we know were new to him. He also scored a goal in 3-on-3 soccer yesterday and was a defensive star in the game. He is still very interested in dinosaurs and has been asking a lot about the big concept of death recently -- which has led to some awkward conversations about Osama Bin Laden after he heard that Osama Bin Laden was killed.

Hiking

We went on our first hike of the year last weekend. We did a 3-mile round trip hike to Twin Falls in the Cascades. Julia did some excellent hiking and Alex walked nearly the whole way.

Our other big news is that Julia has declared herself done with the high chair. She has been doing well eating at the table with a plate. She still forgets sometimes and climbs on to the table when she needs something.
