Julia's "Real" Birthday
Julia finally got her big birthday party this weekend, so now she'll actually tell you she's 4. She had been saying that September 17 was just her pretend birthday. The party was at Arena Sports with all her friends from school, neighbors, and cousins Emily and Connor. She really likes her new school and seems to have a lot of friends.
Alex was in his school's fall chess tournament this weekend. He won 2 games and lost 2. His division goes through 3rd grade, so the competition is much tougher than the kindergarten division. We're still amazed these kids can play chess all day. Alex is also adjusting to having more homework. He gets a packet that's due once a week, but he's decided it's best to work on it a few minutes every day.
Halloween is the next exciting thing on the calendar.

Traveling
While Mom was doing this . . .
And Dad was doing this . . .
Alex and Julia were partying with Grandma Brady.
Since Mom and Dad got back, A&J have been playing tennis and soccer, going to school, and getting into a fall routine. They also went to Salmon Days in Issaquah where Julia did the kids fun run. She did the full 1k run without stopping and with a big sprint at the end.

Birthdays!!
Julia celebrated her 4th Birthday last week! She has celebrated twice so far (once at 7am because Dad had to catch a flight) but she is not calling it her 'real birthday' until she is able to have a big celebration bouncy-house style. Mom and Dad are working on it.
Joanna has been in China for the last couple of weeks so Grandma Brady flew in from Minnesota to help out. Thank you!!!!
Also celebrating birthdays in the last few weeks are Mommy, Grandma Brady, Cousin James, and some friends: TJ, Brock, Cayden, and Rucchi. See pictures and videos below.

New School Year
Alex started first grade yesterday. He was excited and didn't even need a parent to walk him in. His teachers are Ms. Rawson and Ms. Shaw. Most of his friends from last year are in his class. He seems most excited for science lab - they get to go to a real lab on a different floor. He also likes the new selection of books as he's read every book in our house 10 times.
Julia started at a new school called Newport Children's school. It's a 4 minute drive, has nice teachers and nice facilities, although Julia has already pointed out that the playground is "not good" because it doesn't have swings or monkey bars. Her teacher is Ms. Jeanne.
